Health Standards

At EuroCoon Cattery Massachusetts, we prioritize the long-term health, vitality, and breed standard of our European Maine Coons through rigorous, professional, and ethical testing protocols. All of our cats must pass every aspect of our health standards before they are officially added to our breeding program, and we offer a genetic health guarantee on every kitten.

Echocardiograms
Annual cardiac screenings are essential for our TICA-registered cats. We utilize advanced ultrasound technology to detect congenital heart defects early, ensuring a long and healthy life.
Genetic Testing
Our breeding program is built on the foundation of genetic health. We utilize comprehensive DNA panels to screen for hereditary conditions, ensuring only the healthiest bloodlines are passed on.
DNA Panels
By utilizing state-of-the-art DNA testing, we identify carriers of genetic disorders before they are ever expressed. This proactive approach guarantees the purity and health of every kitten.
Yearly Exams
Regular veterinary check-ups are a cornerstone of our ethical breeding practices. We monitor growth, nutrition, and overall wellness to ensure our kittens thrive in their new homes.
Hip Scans
Hip scans are performed to monitor joint health and screen for issues such as hip dysplasia in our breeding cats, helping ensure long-term comfort and mobility.
Vaccinations
All cats and kittens receive age-appropriate vaccinations.
Ethical Breeding & Retirement
One of the key things that sets us apart is our firm commitment to contributing high-quality Maine Coons to the breed while always prioritizing our cats’ health and happiness. With over 20 years of experience working and volunteering in shelters, we are deeply committed to ensuring that none of our cats are condemned to a lifetime of breeding.
Our program limits the number of litters each queen has. They only continue beyond their first litter if they genuinely enjoy being mothers. Between the ages of 3 and 4, our queens are retired and go on to live the life of pampered pets. While saying goodbye to them as breeding cats is always difficult, we will always place their well-being above our breeding goals.
By following these principles, we ensure we are continually adding genetic diversity to our program while maintaining our cats’ happiness and quality of life above all else.
